This is Brennan's Wave in downtown Missoula. Thanks to the efforts of many local whitewater community enthusiasts, what was once a dream is now reality: great surfing in city limits. Brennan's is named after Brennan Guth, a local hero among the paddling crowd who passed away while paddling in Chile several years ago. I think I speak for most of the boating crowd of Missoula when I say that this whitewater feature is a true testament to the quality and commitment of this community. The Wave's in all year, as long as it's not frozen solid. Park in the Caras Park vicinity and surf away; and if you wish, paddle across the river and take the two-minute walk to the Kettlehouse Brewery to taste what's arguably the world's best IPA.
Schmergen? I don't know if I can trust river beta from someone who calls themself Schmergen! Wait... you're not the Schmergen who is bringing "switch" style to big drops in a kayak... I think I saw you do that once in the Kitchen Sink? Sick!
Or are you the schmergen who holds the Ledge Endurance Surf Record on the Blackfoot... rumor has it you swam in the wash of the brennan's wave last week? I don't understand...
Well said Con lo! Schmergen is simply an inside joke very few will understand (fortunately, you are among those few). I'd probably be a bit skeptical about trusting info. from a schmergen too, come to think of it (but i assure you, all info. on the site is accurate as of the day i posted the runs). And yes, i have been known to run a few drops switch, but never on purpose! And i have yet to swim on Brennan's, but i definitely wouldn't put it past me (or the Bassman for that matter, who has recently been nominated as the captain of the Brennan's swim team!). Thanks for your comment Con lo!
Great article on what is definitely a great statement about Missoula. The community jumped through a bunch of Federal red tape to get this wave built. We are lucky to have Kettle House to help us enjoy the evening and increase the grandeur of our accomplishments. Beer always makes it better.
Interesting post you got here. I'd like to read more about that theme. Thnx for sharing that information. The only thing your blog miss is such photo or even two :) Sexy Lady High Class Escorts
An informational site about Montana area rivers and whitewater recreational opportunities. Our blog space contains information about various area rivers and experiences we've had exploring Montana and surrounding area whitewater. The links to the left lead to blogs on some of our favorite area rivers and we'll be adding more throughout the seasons (click on the river names in green to access descriptions of the runs). We hope you'll explore our site and let us know what you think by leaving comments. If you don't find the river or creek you are looking for, keep scrolling down or check the blog archive below on the right hand side. Most of all, have fun out there and remember, safety first! For more detailed information about Montana area rivers, check out www.americanwhitewater.org, and consider joining this great organization dedicated to the protection of America's whitewater resources. The Montana Surf guidebook is another great resource for Montana area paddling as well.
